With increased pollution and global warming, the chances of health problems in America are growing at a faster pace. Majority of American population is suffering from a number of health problems such as excessive weight and obesity, lack of sleep, eye disease and eating disorders.
Excessive weight and obesity is the major problem that millions of US citizens are facing today. With the increased intake of junk food, like hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and cookies, people are gaining too much of weight and becoming fat. There are large amounts of unsaturated fat in junk food because of which people are becoming fat. Soft drinks also contain high calories.
Overweight and obesity are not only caused by eating too much of food, but also due to some other factors. For each individual, body weight is determined by a combination of genetic, metabolic, behavioral, environmental, cultural and socio-economic conditions.
According to many US doctors, lack of sleep is America’s top health problem. Sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia are just a few of the recognized disorders that keep the US citizens awake at odd hours of night. It is estimated that nearly half of all Americans have difficulty in sleeping. However, there are many people who get little sleep because of their excessive work pressure. This may result to fatigue, so it is generally suggested to sleep for a good period of time to avoid fatigue and insomnia.
Eye disease is continuously increasing among the Americans over the last few years. Watching too much TV, music videos and suffering from sleeplessness have resulted in eye disease. Eating disorders is also one of the main reasons for increased health problems in America.
